Cannon Beach, redux

We drove out to Cannon Beach today for an adventure - my children requested (as children often do) that we do exactly the same favorite things as last time. So we parked in the same place, set up in the same spot on the beach, ate fish and chips for lunch at Tom's, and visited the saltwater taffy store. They each got to fill a bag with 5 candies of their choosing. And then we returned to the beach for more digging, burrowing, ball-playing, and wave-jumping. Anne and Camille joined us for the day, to give Liesl (and me!) some much-appreciated company.

The day started off a little rough - Danica was a little homesick last night, so she got to bed late, and then slept in until 8:45 - which meant my two kids basically spent 3 hours bouncing off the walls in their excitement and anticipation for the beach day. And then there was some carsickness on the road, followed by a cold wind upon our arrival at the beach. I was starting to feel that perhaps mistakes had been made. :)

But then we had our lunch and taffy, and the wind died down, and Danica recovered, and we had a wonderfully fun afternoon of sand and water play. We stayed until 5 enjoying the late-day sun and then had a happy drive home for dinner, showers, bedtime -
