Sebastian's first movie

We took Seb and Liesl to see Winnie the Pooh. It was Sebastian's first movie in a theatre. We had thought about seeing Cars 2, but were not happy about the James Bond theme, the gunfire, and the overall look of the movie. Seb gets really scared when watching movies - he makes us fast-forward through the night-chase scene in the original Cars movie - and we didn't think he'd like Cars 2. But Winnie the Pooh was sweet and lovely, and we had a great time. Liesl occupied herself with Cheerios, and when that palled, with climbing up the stairs from the bottom of the theatre to the top. And then again. And then again. And then again....

Liesl's 9-month checkup

Liesl had her 9 month checkup today. She's 27 1/2 inches tall, and 17 lbs. Everything looks good.

hand hand fingers thumb

From July 2011

Liesl's been learning all sorts of things with her hands - how to wave, how to clap, and in the above video, how to do an Indian war-whoop (not a very p.c. term, but I'm not sure what else to call it).

I love this video of Sebastian playing peekaboo with Liesl. He does a great job, and she' so clearly delighted. I didn't notice at the time, but she also learns to mimic my hand gestures ("Where's Sebastian?"), which is really cool.

July 4th weekend!

We had a terrific July 4th long weekend - gorgeous weather (mostly), good sleeps, excellent food, and hanging out with friends and family. We spent Saturday morning playing outside - I played frisbee, then we went to the park. Grandma and Grandpa Raab came over after naptime, and Sebastian was so super excited to see them. We took them down to the waterfront and then had dinner from one of our favorite fish restaurants.

On Sunday we went to a bbq and pool party at the Krapf's. Lots of Seb's friends were there and we had a great time. Steve made a flag cake for the occasion.

And then Monday was another lovely outdoor day - we spent the morning at Matthiessen Park with Rachel, Sonya, and Remy. After naptime we checked out a new ice cream place in Tarrytown and then went for a walk along the Aqueduct trail through Sleepy Hollow.

Plums and peaches are in season! Yum!

I love how intently she is watching him play. She's so fascinated by her big brother, and desperately wants to play with everything he touches.

Another amazing track layout, courtesy of Daddy. Liesl Diesl keeps trying to wreck it.
