We celebrated Christmas at home with mom and dad Avery -- we had fig bread for breakfast, of course, lots of presents for everyone, and an amazing rib roast for dinner.
Twas the night before Christmas, and Seb ate the milk and cookies for Santa.Jasper was extremely very excited about his stocking and presents.
This was my big surprise present for Liesl: a giant Lego kit replicating the house in Home Alone.
Liesl found this sweet little plant and pot for me.
Seb's present to Liesl was a box of treats and coupons, a heated blanket, and these amazing earmuffs.
Steve ordered three new Steelers hats from a company called Rally House; they sent the hats and also a complimentary surprise present....
.... a Steelers Nutcracker!!!! Amazing!!!!
The kids bought Jasper an enormous octopus stuffy for his present. He's already gnawed off two of the legs - it's a sextopus - but seems very happy.
Christmas gift checks - thanks mom and dad!
Brunch: fig bread, fruit, eggs, bacon
The Steelers played and lost, and it put a damper on the day. So Steve and I went for a long walk in the rain with Jasper, and that was restorative. For dinner, a giant rib roast, beautifully cooked, along with mashed potatoes, green beans, roasted carrots, chanterelles, cranberry sauce, bread rolls, kale apple salad, and a chocolate stout cake for dessert.
It was a bit of a tough week: there was Seb's broken wrist, Steve's extreme busyness at work (to be continued), and Seb, Grandpa, and I all came down with a fever and cough. But it was still good to be together and we still celebrated with all the usual traditions.
