hiking Breakneck Ridge in the Hudson Highlands

We went out last weekend to the Hudson Highlands, near Cold Spring, and did a wonderful hike called Breakneck Ridge. Sebastian loved it - loved the pack, loved all the scrambling and clambering. It was a gorgeous day.

O Frabjous Day!

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
--Jabberwocky, by Lewis Carroll

Sebastian slept through the night!!!! He fell asleep at 8:30 and slept until 5:30. We are thrilled.

He must have a baby sixth sense that alerted him to the fact that mamma and daddy were at the end of their ropes. Steve has been working like a madman and barely sleeping, I too am busy at work, Sebbe was sick last week and only sleeping in 2-hour blocks...

Ah, bliss. If only he can do it a few more times, we can imagine it's a trend.

Sebastian's first kiss!

We went to Stone Barns/Rockefeller State Park yesterday with our friends Rachel and Sonya. It was a beautiful day and we let the babies crawl around together on a blanket for a while. Sonya crawled right over to Sebastian and kissed him! On the lips! She looked so, so pleased with herself afterwards. Sebbe just looked confused. It was so funny, and unexpected, and adorable.

This is sweet little Sonya.

Sebbe's favorite new toy

Sebastian's favorite new toy is a Radio Flyer push wagon. As soon as Steve put it together and showed him, his eyes lit up, he crawled right over and got up. He's been walking around with it ever since. Here are some pictures from inside and outside.

Sebastian eating a sweet little plum. He's got enough teeth to just eat it whole, and he loves it.

auntie Trish!

Posted by Picasa

Steve's sister Trish has been looking after Sebastian since mid-July.
So far, it's been terrific. They go to the park and the playground, they visit the pool, they went to see Mamma Mia. Sebastian has even learned to drink milk from a bottle at midday!!

He tends to cry in the morning when I leave, but Steve and Trish say that he stops crying within a few minutes and then loves playing.

yay! Thanks auntie Trish!!
