Seb's soccer photos

Some lunchtime team photos -- the varsity team eats lunch together when they have home games, and each game day merits its own outfit. This was jersey day; there was also button-down shirt and slacks, polo shirts, etc.

JV2 soccer games

Liesl and her teammates have been enjoying an easy season of soccer -- they have won many of their games 8-0 after the first half (when a mercy rule kicks in). Their one competitive match was against Jesuit last week, where they tied 2-2. That was really fun to watch. These photos are from a game against Wilsonville. Liesl has been playing defense, as always, sometimes center back, sometimes left or right back. She's been pressing forward more on offense, looking to connect passes through the midfield and then be open to receiving the ball forward, and that's been fun to see. She has a lot of speed and it would be fun to see her using it to attack.

Steelers season

It's fall, it's football season. Every year, Steve is a like a little boy, so excited to see his team play, eagerly anticipating the first game … until someone drops a catch or misses a tackle, or they commit some ridiculous foul, or they lose, and then he’s in despair. Until the next week! Happily, first game of the season ended in a win for the good guys.

20th anniversary

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this week -- the actual day is Sept 4th, but we usually think of Labor Day weekend as our time to celebrate. This year we spent Sept 4th watching Seb play soccer, working, and getting two new toilets installed (nothing says happy anniversary like new toilets!). We made up for it by celebrating on Friday. We stopped by Peninsula Park Rose Garden to take some photos, enjoyed a lavish dinner at Coquine, and bought a new vintage diamond ring for me at Gilt, the same place Steve bought my engagement ring in March 2005.
