the Averys arrive!

After a very busy December - work, school, activities - we are on winter break! The kids and I are home together for two weeks. The Averys all arrived on Sunday to celebrate Christmas together with us, and it's been amazingly fun and magical to watch the cousins reconnect. I love to be in the kitchen cooking and baking with my mom.

Kim brought a felt and acorn cap craft, which the girls loved.
The older children - and adults! - have been playing tons of games together - memory games, card games, board games - this is Magic Labyrinth. Grandpa brought some old ones from our childhood - Battleship, Racko, and dominoes - and those too have been a great success.

The children and I made Christmas chocolate cutout cookies - the big kids at one station and the younger ones at another.
Liesl and Bompy doing some floor work.
These two have been inseparable - they play house and baby, they band together against their older siblings, they hide in closets and under beds together, they've demanded to take baths together and sleep in the same room... it's adorable.
