Timothy Lake part 2

After breakfast on Thursday we biked along the lakeside trail to the dam -- about a 5-6 mile round trip. We haven't been able to take bikes on camping trips previously, because our Civic couldn't handle our camping gear, and our rental SUVs didn't have bike hitches. So it was a delight to be able to load up the Tessy and bring our 3 bikes, and to bike together, Jasper running faithfully along in a line.

 

After biking, we hung out in our campsite for a bit, reading and eating lunch and getting ready for watersports.

Our kayaking setup: Seb in front, Jasper in the middle, me in back, and Liesl on the alligator floatie. We are not speedy, being weighed down by an extra 100 lbs of dog weight and the drag of a floatie behind us, but we can make it along the shoreline far enough to reach our favorite swimming area, at the old dock.

Once we were all cold and shivering, we headed back to the campsite again for some dry clothes and hot chocolate. We played Quirkle and Sushi Go and Uno and read some more books, I went out with Jasper for a late-afternoon kayak jaunt, we ate dinner and roasted marshmallows and poked at the fire after the sun went down. The state issued a fire ban that started Friday morning, so our Thursday fire was probably the last one until next year. Everyone was tired and crawled in a little early -- Jasper was exhausted and couldn't wait to curl up at Seb's feet to snore soundly.
