Right on schedule, Jasper and I found the first trilliums of the season. Hooray!

Go Zags!

Steve and Seb flew to Boston to visit Brandeis, and then to Spokane to visit Gonzaga. They had a great time together, ate some good food, learned about the schools, met some current students. We had some other visit days set up, but we’re calling it: Go Zags! Seb is going to Gonzaga!!

St Patrick’s Day!

We had 4 soccer games this weekend, and a softball game on Tuesday, so our St Paddy’s celebration was a little less celebratory than usual. Still: Steve and Liesl went to an Irish pub on Sunday, and on Tuesday we had beef stew with cabbage, potatoes, and carrots. Steve played Irish jigs and we danced around. Delicious.

Liesl made the varsity softball team at Lincoln, along with two of her best friends. It's very cool -- they got to experience a full-blown media day and got all the team gear (four jerseys, a team backpack, helmets, etc.). First game is today!

soccer: the end

Seb played his final competitive soccer game today, with his PCU club. The team will continue on to an end-of-season tournament in April, but he decided a few weeks ago that he was done. He wants to focus on other things -- going to the gym, his budding videography business, hanging with friends, playing tennis. It's been a good run, 12 years of soccer, with Forest Heights SC, Lincoln Youth Soccer, Lincoln High school, and Portland City United. Good coaches, good teammates, hundreds of games and practices and tournaments. Steve and I were really sad at the end, especially as it foreshadows other endings to come in short order. We have loved watching him play.

 

On the final play of the game, Seb's team earned a free kick right outside the box. Seb stepped up to take it, got it through the wall, and one of his teammates tapped it in. An assist for his final touch! 

 

 

 

 

After the game, some of his teammates hugged him, and his coach gave a short speech appreciating him. Pretty sweet. 

sleepover party and rainy day antics

Liesl's best friend Ella had a birthday party sleepover, with 10 girls. There were tacos and crepes, and a giant living room-sized bed for all the girls to sleep.
