San Francisco weekend!

Steve had to be in San Francisco for work on Weds-Thurs, and then again from Sun-Weds, so he decided to just stay in California rather than flying roundtrip home. And for the first time, I decided to join him! Yay!

I bought a book at the airport Powells and enjoyed two hours of uninterrupted (by the internet, chores, or people) reading time. I met Steve at his hotel in downtown SF and we went out for dinner at HK Lounge. Amazing hargow, bbq pork buns, Peking duck, and steamed whole fish.

On Saturday morning we had fancy toast at the Mill - avocado, almond butter, egg in a hole, and ricotta w jam.  And then we walked up to Alamo Square park and admired the views, including the Victorian houses known as the painted ladies. And then we rented e-bikes through the city biking program and took off for an extended adventure. We biked through the city into the Presidio, to viewpoints overlooking the Golden Gate bridge, and then back through Golden Gate park.

We docked the bikes and walked to the 16th avenue tiled steps, which were so delightful.
Back down the steps, back onto bikes, to Coffee Movement for a pick-me-up. There was a man on the streets corralling a very large tortoise. He said it weighed 80 lbs!
We walked back into Golden Gate park because I wanted to stroll around the botanical garden. And then finally back to the hotel for a break before dinner.
Dinner at State Bird Provisions, a really interesting little place. They have a small menu that you can order from, but the bulk of the available food is brought around on trays or carts, like old-school dimsum places. So you can see the dish and decide if you want it, and they place it on your table, marking the cost on a piece of paper. So fun! We ate a lot, of course, and walked home afterwards to digest some. Such a happy day.

(On Friday, Liesl went to the girls basketball game at Lincoln and slept over at Ella's, and was picked up by a teammate's family on Saturday morning to go to Eugene and Bend for soccer games. Seb stayed home to look after Jasper and do some filming work -- he had fun hosting friends for fried chicken and jojo's on Friday.)

Valentine's Day

We got some chocolates and tulips for Valentine's Day, and I made waffles w strawberries, and then we all went to see a play at the Armory: The Play that Goes Wrong. It was absolutely hysterical, so funny, and really well done. We all laughed for two hours.

the Liesl life

At dinner tonight, I mentioned that I had only posted to the blog twice in February, and everyone was appalled. What about the historical record? How would we have photos for the annual calendar and blog book? So I asked for some photos from the teens, since most of time they're living their lives and taking their own pics.

Liesl, Hannah, and Avery, who are doing private soccer training sessions together on Saturdays, with their matching pink balaclavas.
