Liesl's softball team played a game on Wednesday night - so fun to see them all out there playing and having fun. Liesl played third base and second base, had a hit and a walk, and played really well all around.

camping, Sunday
Everyone slept better the second night - exercise and exhaustion! - and we had a good morning. The kids prepared a skit and performed it for us in the campground amphitheatre. There was a rock-throwing contest, juggling contest (both with audience participation), a dog obedience show, a performance of the macarena, and a dance competition. Seb was the master of ceremonies; the whole thing was a hoot.
We biked and walked on the park loop to the Nehalem River side of the peninsula, where there is a giant sand hill and the calm waters of the river for wading and splashing.
And then it was time to pack up our campsites and head out. We stopped in Manzanita to have one last beach adventure, but it was really windy and a little cold, and we were all sun and wind-burned, and kind of tired. So we played for a bit, took some last photos, and then headed for home.

camping at Nehalem Bay
We ventured out on our first camping trip of the year this weekend, to Nehalem Bay State Park near Manzanita, with the Dewis/Hornbrook family. We love to go beach camping to kick off summer and it was so fun to go with friends this year. It was their first time camping as a family! Yay for new adventures!
We left on Friday after work and soccer camp (all four kids were at soccer camp from 1-4 pm every day this week, getting exhausted and sunburned). Since we were arriving late, we picked up some pizzas and were able to graze while we set up camp, and still got over to the beach to see the sunset. And of course, we built a fire and enjoyed some inaugural s'mores.
