Hot Chocolate race in Seattle

Anja and I went up to Seattle to run the the Hot Chocolate 15k on Sunday, March 1st. It was the longest I've ever run and raced, and was really really fun. We had an amazing day - perfect weather, our families there to cheer us on at the finish line, and a (for us) super fast pace.
The fountain at Seattle Center was gorgeous on Saturday when we picked up race packets.
Mom and Dad came down from Surrey to watch us race, and very kindly accompanied us to the starting line at 8 am so that we could keep our warm jackets and hats on for as long as possible.
We had placed into corral B, only one behind the fastest runners, and felt a little nervous looking around at the other runners. The a 9-minute per mile pacers were right next to us and we decided to stick with them.
The race was hilly - down and up, up and down - but not very steep for someone accustomed to running in Portland's West Hills and Forest Park.

We started and ran the whole race together, finishing together in 1 hr, 23 mins. The last 1/4 mile was uphill and we were in a pack of runners that was sprinting to the finish, so obviously we did too. It was a really hard end and left both of us feeling a little sick.
But we recovered and went on to get our medals, photo, and hot chocolate goodies.

And the results! We got faster as we ran, which is totally bananas.
