star student

On Thursday, it was Liesl's day to be star student in her classroom, which means that she got to present her all-about-me poster, be first in line when lining up for lunch and recess, and bring home the class "pet", pictured below. The assignment is to take Hugo everywhere with you and then write about his adventures in the shared class journal. I've copied Liesl's below, because I found it delightful and a good snapshot into her day and thoughts.

In other news, Liesl's OBOB team, the Jellybeans, had their first meeting at our house on Friday after school. Her team consists of three other girls in her class this year, some of whom she intersects with at dance classes or Girl Scouts, but none of whom are her best friends. I'm glad that she's branched out for this extracurricular and is making new connections, expanding her circle of friends. We talked about our OBOB goals (read books! have fun!) and the rules of the OBOB competition, divided up the 16 books, and then they started memorizing the authors and book titles. And there was also plenty of time for playing and giggling and jumping around and snacking --
