Sebastian turns 12!

We celebrated Sebastian's 12th birthday on Monday - it's always sweet to have his day off from work and school to be together. He was happy and cheerful all day long, and it was a great birthday. We started with waffles, bacon, eggs, and berries.

And then we turned to the initial round of presents and cards - a Nike company store pass, new books, and a new game, Machi Koro, which we immediately played.

Next up, presents from the Raab grandparents, including a new Barcelona soccer jersey! And another game, Scattergories, and some money toward his FIFA video game account -

And then there was some downtime - playing outside at the field, reading, a lunchtime walk to Pizzicato and the pond - before we met up again to go bowling at Kingpins. Grandma Raab was the high scorer of the day, putting the rest of us to shame --

We played a few arcade games - driving games, air hockey, and this really cool virtual reality ride -

And then back home for dinner and a last few presents. Liesl drew a fantastic soccer ball on her card for Seb; Steve's present to both children for their birthdays was an annual subscription to the Disney Plus streaming service, which made the kids super excited once he showed them the list of movies -

And a lemon pie for dessert, a break in our long-standing tradition of strawberry shortcake. It's his new favorite, but I haven't yet attempted to make it, so this was from Baker & Spice.

And at the very end of the day, a replacement iPad, because our original one (a 5-year old iPad mini that we got second-hand) finally died. It was a very happy 12th birthday for the boy.
