champions!!!

Sebastian's LYS soccer team played in the Founders' Cup end-of-season tournament this month. In the 3-game round robin, they lost their first game 3-0, tied the second game 1-1, and then won the last game 4-1. They ended up second in their bracket, which earned them a spot in the semi-final game last Sunday. They played really well in that game, with a lot of energy and focus, and won 2-0. And so they got to play in today's championship match - 4 pm at PCC Rock Creek, on a gorgeous turf field under the lights. Their opponent was Capital FC, a team from Salem that had previously beat them 3-0.

The boys came out really well, with so much energy and attack -- they hustled for the ball, they kept control by passing to each other, they communicated on defense, and they attacked the goal. They ended up winning 2-0, which was amazing and awesome and so special. Tournament champions!!!

To make it even more special, Sebastian scored his team's first goal, off a free kick, to go up 1-0  -- his first goal of the season! I got a video of it and the celebration afterwards.
