our garden, continued
We have so many greens - lettuce, chard, spinach, kale, beet greens - as well as our first cherry tomatoes, beets, and purple bush beans. The pumpkin and delicata squash plants are running wild and taking over the place.

Ain't it fun? Not to mention hard work, costly and occasionally frustrating when things don't do well. But it is why we started our first garden in N.J. in 1973, despite the total absence of arable soil and even less knowledge of what to do about it. Seeing Liesl eat spinach straight off the plant makes it all worth it -- and then there's that dirt under the fingernails.
