beach morning and home

We slept really well, and enjoyed bacon, eggs, and brioche buns for breakfast. Sweet Jasper waits patiently until we all stir and start talking, and then he knows it's okay to come and say good morning. There's nothing like a bearded 100-lb dog looking down at you and happily wriggling his joy at seeing you again.
We then headed back to the beach to play games - bocce was super fun - also making a sand castle - throwing sticks for Jasper to fetch - but no one had a lot of energy for running dunes after the exertions of the previous two days. Liesl had also hurt her foot in some way and was not able to walk far.
Jasper discovered sand crabs and was fascinated. He tried to lick one, but decided it wasn't edible.
And then it was time to eat lunch and pack up the campsite -- tent, sleeping bags, clothes, toys, food, cooking supplies, chairs, umbrellas, etc. So much packing and unpacking!

I love to go camping with the kids because I love how happy and together we are -- at home, everyone is often separate, on their own screens or buried in work or reading, or talking/playing with friends, or exercising in their own way. But when we're away, we're together, playing games together, and reading together, and the kids get to bond and laugh together. It probably can't last, but for now, it's still pretty sweet.
