We have seen two theatrical performances this month - Matilda, performed by the Northwest Children's Theatre, which we attended with Liesl's Girl Scout troop, and Peter Pan Jr., performed by the West Sylvan Drama club. The GS girls got to participate in a pre-show workshop in which they played theatre games and learned the song-and-dance routine for one of the show numbers. Liesl loved it and we played one of the games, called "What are you Doing?" at dinner, to great hilarity. The show's songs and dialogue were terrific - hysterical in parts to the grownups in the audience - and with the same great production values (set, costumes) that I associate with NWCT shows.
We saw Peter Pan Jr. last night at the middle school - it was a sweet little production with some really good talent, and both kids loved seeing children they knew and recognized up on stage. I think it felt more approachable - more like something they could imagine doing one day (esp Liesl). The costumes were fantastic and the whole thing terrifically well organized - it's clear there's a lot of parental involvement and school support.
