On Sunday night we hopped on a British Airways flight to London, the first leg of our summer trip. We've been so busy with final exams, wrapping up work, and softball that it didn't feel real until we started packing our luggage and cleaning out the fridge on Saturday. The flight was fine -- movies, dinner, on time -- but it's a painfully long way, with little sleep. We arrived at Heathrow at 12:30pm London time.
It was fun to land and immediately remember how to get around -- Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station, Elizabeth line to Blackfriars station, Central to St Paul's.
Liesl felt that her eyelashes weren't up to London standards. This was my reaction.
Tired boys.
We are staying at The Kings Wardrobe again, as it was conveniently located near St Paul's and spacious. They let us check in early, so we were able to leave our luggage and head out in search of food.
We walked to Shoreditch and ate Indian food at Dishoom - delicious chicken curry and naan and bhel puri.
It was fun to walk the streets and see the old and new buildings interspersed throughout. Liesl got an amazing coffee softserve ice cream and I got a flat white. And then we did some shopping in Spitalfields. Liesl and I got some trinkets and Seb got some shuteye. We walked back toward our hotel -- Steve and Liesl went in to shower and sleep -- and Seb and I hopped the Central line to head to Mayfair. We briefly went into Selfridge's and then a UEFA soccer store, and then we headed home to sleep as well.
