We visited the farmers market and splashed in one last fountain on Saturday morning, while awaiting Carl and Kim's arrival.

 C&K arrived on time and their girls were super happy to see them. We had a slow afternoon of naps and laundry and sharing war stories and looking at photos. And I baked. A flag cake for Danica, in belated celebration of July 4th, and chocolate cupcakes for Roxana, in an early celebration of her birthday.

We had a quiet morning today, playing at the local pond and playground, returning the minivan, packing up everything. And then I drove the Lee-Averys to the airport, with one last tiny stop to speed them on their way...

Our house seems strangely quiet and empty. Everyone napped after lunch and is just now waking up, bleary-eyed and thirsty and a little sad that our grand summer visit is over.
