My cousin Luke Avery and his family are in Oregon for a vacation week, and we've been enjoying hanging out with them. They arrived on Saturday evening, spent Sunday morning exploring Mount St Helens, and then came over for dinner at our house. It was a full table of fun!
Reid has remembered Liesl since Grammy's funeral in March 2020, when she read many many books to him. So it was fun to see them reconnect and hang out again. The girls dressed Reid up in various old Halloween costumes (dragon; cat; Thing 1) and took him over to the school field to play soccer.
On Monday morning we met up again in Washington Park; the kids played at the Elephant playground and then we visited the Japanese Garden.
It's extremely hot this week -- over 100 every day -- so everyone retreated in the afternoon to rest and remain in the air-conditioning. We met up again in the evening; the girls agreed to babysit Reid so that the grownups could have a Spanish tapas dinner at Navarre. It was so delicious, especially the orange wine we ordered.
