After breakfast, we decided to hike upstream along the trail that ran parallel to the Lewis River. We passed by Middle Falls and kept going two miles to the Upper Falls. The forest was green and mossy and full of huge trees, and we were happy to be exploring.

We waded and splashed in the water, had a picnic lunch, and then headed back to the campground.
In the afternoon, we met up with our friends who were camping with us - the Hoangs, Yomari and family, Paula and her daughter, Allison and family, Casady and family - to explore the very deep pool at the base of Lower Falls. The water was cold, but not freezing, and Liesl jumped into the deep part of the river, along with all three of the Hoangs. We watched some crazy people jump off the top cliff all the way down into the pool. Jasper managed to wade across the river, but then he got scared and it was very difficult to get him back across the swift part of the current. I ended up half carrying and dragging him, with Anne waving pepperoni from midstream.
After that, it was hot cocoa and dry clothes to warm up, and curling up with books together before more bike riding, dinner, and roasted marshmallows.
