museums: Royal BC and Victoria Bug

On Wednesday we went to the Royal BC Museum to see a special exhibit on mammoths - it was quite well done, with lots of interactive exhibits, fur and bones to touch, short videos, displays of bones, and even a whole preserved baby mammoth, named Lyuba, found in Siberia. I thought it was cool and Liesl was really interested in watching and talking about the information.

We went to a Japanese place called Uchida for lunch and then went to the Victoria Bug Museum - a small place, but with a lot of different insects, spiders, ants. It was a triumph of parenting over preference - I could feel my skin crawling the whole time we were in there - but Liesl and Roxy were utterly fascinated. They wanted to touch and hold everything.

 

After the bug museum we wandered around Victoria some more, eating macarons and enjoying these young musicians playing in one of the squares.

On one of the days, Steve made a treasure hunt for the children. So fun.
