New Year's Eve

The last day of 2015 was very cold - bright and sunny, but with temperatures at freezing and a brisk wind blowing. We played a lot of indoor games and did painting and drawing - 

Steve and Carl taught the younger girls some basic chess.

Kim was inspired by a smitten kitchen recipe to make a tarte soleil, with chocolate and almond butter filling.

We made a visit to the Central Library on Wednesday and took out 102 books. 102! It's a new record. At least 25 of them were fairy books, which Seb and Danica have been devouring.

Adrienne and Jeff hosted a party at Planet Granite for New Year's - food, climbing, hanging out, counting down at 7:00 pm. It was really nice to see my friends again and to do a little bit of climbing - we've all been busy with holidays and family and trips and visits, and I haven't seen them that much.

And then we came home and put the kids to bed and opened some bubbly and shared a (somewhat tired) but happy toast to 2016.
