Christmas decorating, continued!

We have been having such fun decorating and crafting and baking for Christmas. We set up the Advent calendar and on Tuesday the children got the first of their treats - chocolate snowmen! They've also gotten candy canes, gummy bears, chocolate Santas, and a note promising them a doughnut. :)

We bought the gingerbread house kit from Trader Joe's again this year, and had a great afternoon setting them up and decorating. Leftover Halloween candy was once again sacrificed in the cause of additional decorations for the houses. :)

It's a little hard to see, but Sebastian constructed a really cool-looking entrance gate to his house.

Liesl found some pieces of felt in our Christmas box, and spent a merry afternoon cutting out shapes and planning various sewing projects. She took her supplies to school, so that Ellie could sew together two halves of a Bunny Foofoo. And then she requested a Christmas stocking for Baby Foofoo, which I thought made a lot of sense - she does feel like the fifth member of our family. :)  So Steve drew the stocking shape on paper, Liesl traced it and cut it out of felt, and I sewed the two halves together. Look at me with a needle and thread! We all felt happy and proud.

 

On Sunday, before the Timbers game (yay for the MLS champions!!), we baked gingerbread cookies. Liesl and I made the dough and then both kids got into the rolling and cutting out of men, stars, and trees.

And finally, the children sat down and wrote letters to Santa with their requests. Pretty please!! We've been so good!
