Paradise Park w Anja

Anja and I hiked the 13 mile Paradise Park loop on Mt Hood. It was a gorgeous day, 75 and sunny, and we got to see so many peaks and wildflowers and waterfalls. Such a good day.

The hike starts at 6000 ft, so the mountain looms large, and the peak seems so doable!

Zigzag canyon, with the river running through it. We had to go all the way down, ford the river, and all the way back up the other side. Twice.

Mt St Helens in the distance. Rainier was just to the right, but can't be seen in this photo.

Another sandy canyon that we had to descend and climb up out of.

There's a waterfall in this photo -- a wide drizzly one -- but you can't see it very well.

Anja, crossing the Zigzag very carefully over this log. We watched a backpacker hop on rocks to cross, and it looked terrifying. The log was fortunately not slippery.
