On Thursday morning, Liesl and I took the paddleboard out onto the lake for an hour while Seb slept in again. It's always quiet and peaceful on Clear Lake, but the early morning is particularly calm.
We ate a light breakfast and hopped onto our bikes, ready to bike around (maybe) Clear Lake. It's 5 miles and we intended to stop at the resort restaurant for breakfast midway. Things got off to a rough start, as evidenced in these first two photos, and we decided that maybe we weren't meant to ride on the east side (the lava rock side) of the lake. The west side, once we reached it, was smooth sailing and very fun.
We got our pancakes and bacon -- much happiness -- and then kept riding until we reached the bridge crossing the lake, at which point we retraced our route back to the campground.
After lunch and pumping water from the ancient spout, we headed back out onto the lake.
We paddled over to the beach area near the resort and Liesl and I jumped in. Video evidence that I jumped into the water first, and then evinced extraordinary self-control and did not throw her in,

We paddled back to the campground dock and Seb tried out the paddleboard while Liesl and I jumped into the water again. By then it was 3, and we decided to pack up and head home. It turned out that Steve (who was supposed to join us on Weds or Thurs) was sick, and we missed him.
