fantastic projects

Seb and Liesl were inspired by tales of other communities (around the US and in other parts of Portland) in which everyone goes out on their steps or balconies at 7 pm and cheers/yells/makes noise to show support for essential workers. So they decided to make posters to hang around the neighborhood, encouraging everyone to join in. They made a map of of our neighborhood and then ran around taking notes on where to hang posters (notations on the map, of course), and how many copies were needed. They created a poster, we printed copies, and now we are awaiting a stretch of dry weather to go hang them up (so, starting tomorrow).

Liesl decided to become a magician using a combination of Seb's old magic box and YouTube tutorials. She watched tricks and learned how to do them, created materials and practiced. She was great, really enthusiastic, and she definitely got better over time. It was really fun to be her audience. There are some videos that I'll try to post later.

And finally, Seb loves a You Tube show called Dude Perfect, which is sort of like a talk show/game show/Sports Center-esque thing. He and Liesl decided to re-create it for us: it took hours of researching different ideas, creating their schedule, gathering materials, practicing their patter, a full dress rehearsal, and then finally on Sunday morning at 9:30 we got the full show. (There were even tickets and special seats.) It was so fun to see them collaborating and creating. I took a movie of it and they did some editing in iMovie - again, I'll have to figure out how to share that.

Good times and such fun collaborative projects. Not pictured: the usual bickering, mama needing a long run to cool down, running low on food (but trying to make it two weeks between grocery store visits).
