spring break trip to the Oregon Dunes

The children and I had spring break this week, so we packed up the car on Monday morning and drove south to the towns of Florence and Reedsport, near the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. We spent three days exploring the dunes, playing on the beaches, taking a crazy dune buggy ride, seeing sea lions, and hiking various trails. It was lovely to be with them (and Jasper!).

We arrived mid-afternoon on Monday and immediately headed to Siltcoos Beach to run up and down the dunes. It was in the 50s and cloudy, but they were undaunted.

We threw seashells into our giant hole and laughed and laughed while Jasper dug for them.

My traveling companions: tired, sandy puppy; two omnivorously reading children. We ate an early dinner and then swam in the hotel pool and then watched some tv (of course).
