On Tuesday morning, Sebastian wanted to find a beach and play baseball. (After indulging in the hotel restaurant's waffles and bacon, and watching an hour of television - always their favorite part of hotel visits.) So we did: set up the bases, got our equipment, and enjoyed watching our favorite fielder grab the tennis balls.
We then headed north towards Heceta Head and its much-photographed lighthouse and the Sea Lion cave.
The Sea Lion cave is a bit of a tourist trap, but Liesl wanted to go and see the sea lions and seals, so we went down into the underground. The sea lions were plentiful and noisy and they lay around like giant piles of turds in this enormous cavern. :)
It was more fun to walk outside and see them frolicking in the ocean and curled up on the rock structures below us.
Our next stop was the Hobbit trail down to the beach, just the other side of the headland from Heceta Head. The trail was magical, full of little trails and gnomish trees.
The beach was gorgeous - still mid-50s and cloudy, but not all that windy.
