old Salmon River trail

After we got sufficiently cold and wet and hungry on Saturday, we returned to the cabin and had lunch and played some games, and then ventured out again. This time we went just across the road to the Old Salmon River trail, and hiked along the river. The forest in that area is beautiful, with huge mossy trees, and it was refreshing to be out enjoying it. We ran with Jasper, played pretend forest fairy games, and threw sticks into the river for our puppy to fetch. He definitely wanted to jump in and grab the sticks - channeling his labrador instincts - but it was deep and swift-moving and cold, and he wasn't quite sure. He fetched sticks if we threw them into shallow water, but wouldn't venture farther. Next summer!
