... like Christmas!!! We had a lovely quiet weekend following Thanksgiving - lots of reading, many games, a hike, playing soccer at the field, the farmers market, the central library, and a delicious Thai lunch at Sen Yai. We also got a Christmas tree on Sunday afternoon - set it up and got some lights strung that afternoon, and then decorated it tonight. We've got our stockings up, and the Advent calendar, and multiple times every day Liesl now asks me if it's Christmas yet.
We took out a whole stack of Christmas books from the library.

The annual Avery/Raab tradition in which Steve spends an hour rehanging all of the ornaments after the rest of us have happily draped decorations every where and every which way, offending his sense of style. Can't wait to see how long this lasts - Seb started to notice this year that things were not where he had originally placed them...
We also picked up gingerbread house kits from Trader Joe's today, and at Liesl's insistence started assembling them this afternoon. We've got the big pieces stuck together, and tomorrow we'll make a fresh batch of icing and decorate them with the candy. I've managed to convince them that nothing in these TJ kits is edible - not the icing, the candies, or the gingerbread itself. :)
I asked them this morning to each go and get dressed, and put on something appropriate for a Christmas photo (the calendar elf needed a December pic). Seb came back in his Timbers jersey - at least it's green, right? Liesl took 25 minutes to pick an outfit, but came down in a lovely green dress and sparkly pink tights. That's my girl. :)
