Liesl, Ella, and I went camping at Nehalem Bay State Park in Manzanita -- a one night trip, Thursday afternoon to Friday evening. The weather was beautiful (although more windy than preferable), we slept well, we roasted smores over the fire, Jasper was thrilled to be romping around. We left Portland around 4, stopped in Cannon Beach for fish and chips, and arrived at the campground with just eough time to set up the tent and then watch the sunset (and full moon rise).
Friday: we slept late, ate oatmeal cups and hot chocolate and coffee, cozied around the campsite, and then went down to the beach for a few hours.
The girls dug a huge hole and then sang a funny song and dance around it.
We went back to our site for lunch and reading/watching/talking. The girls biked to the amphitheatre and danced there, then biked around the loop to the Nehalem river. Jasper and I walked slowly in their wake.
And then we packed up everything before heading back to the beach for one last time.
