Our HOA decided to remove all of the elm trees in the neighborhood because a beetle infestation is approaching. And then they also decided to remove all the ugly dogwoods, because their root structures were unstable and some fell every year. The axe-men came this week and it has been absolutely devastating. Our street looks naked; you can see into the windows across the street; it's horribly depressing.

They returned and planted new trees in all of the lots -- Japanese snowbells, is what the arborists told me. But they are tiny, and it will be a decade before we have proper trees again, and I am so sad.
