Raabs part 2!

On Saturday morning we went to the big farmers market that happens every Saturday morning on the PSU campus downtown. We used to go every week and loved it, but it's been years since our weekends were free and open. It was so fun to return and see some old favorite vendors, and to show Trish and Jake the incredible bounty of this market in late summer. After the market, we drove out into the Columbia River Gorge. Our visitors stopped first at the Vista House to get a view down the whole river valley, and then we met up at Multnomah Falls.

 

Next stop was Horsetail Falls.

 

 

We had an early dinner in Hood River at Pfriem. Seb and Grandpa played a few rousing games of tic-tac-toe.  

We stayed the night at Cooper Spur mountain resort, in this big cabin with two bedrooms and a 4-bunk attic. There was a grassy field out back, perfect for playing, and a tent with lawn toys -- croquet, cornhole, giant Jenga and Connect4.

 

 

 

 

  Playing a vaguely inappropriate card game that Liesl picked up at a thrift shop in CA. There was a lot of laughter and eye-rolling. It was called New Phone, Who Dis, and was an adult version of Apples to Apples.

In the morning, Steve and I went for a long walk on the trails up the mountain, we enjoyed breakfast at the resort, and then had some game rematches -- boys against the oldies (me and Steve). We won, of course.

 

 

At midday we drove to Trillium Lake. We walked the 2-mile loop around the lake and then rented a couple of paddleboards to go out onto it. The kids were really happy to swim, the water was relatively warm, it was really just a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.

We went up to Timberline Lodge on Hood for a late lunch, and then we drove home to Portland, and the Raabs went back to Hood River for a final night before flying home on Monday. Such a good visit!
