In the morning, Sebastian went off on his own to meet up with a friend who happened to be in Paris at the same time as us. They got croissants at a cafe and then biked to the Arc and the Eiffel tower before he returned to us at noon.
Steve and I went on a croissant foraging expedition in the morning to a few local bakeries. And then Liesl and I went browsing and wandering in the Marais -- we got chocolates, we got new shirts, she got boba tea, Steve joined us and all three of us got new hats. and then we had lunch -- quiche lorraine for me, and baguette w brie cheese and ham for L.
In the afternoon, we ventured to the Louvre. It was a lot. There were a lot of crowded spaces, and so many tourists all over the place. But we did our best to do it justice, to see a few beautiful things, to enjoy being in a famous museum.

It's a doggo, nursing a litter of puppies! Even the Egyptians apparently had a fondness for pets.
Steve thought for a second these were chess pieces, and was very excited. Liesl really wanted to see this Egyptian mummy.

I did not take photos of the Mona Lisa. But this was the ridiculous crowd that came to view the poor painting, which cannot bear the weight of so much phone-camera clicking.

After returning home to rest for a bit, we went out to dinner across the Seine in the 6th Arrondissement, at a place called Le Petit Chatelet. It was a classic French bistro, and it was wonderful. We ate so much -- we stuffed ourselves -- steak au poivre, duck confit, roast chicken, sea bass, escargot, chevre on greens, artichokes. And then we ordered dessert! Terrine de chocolate, profiteroles, rum raisin, and a flaming crepes with Grand Marnier. The service was excellent, the location right across from Notre Dame on the Seine, and the food delicious. It was really an amazing meal, topping off a perfect day.

Our apartment is on the 5th floor, and lacks views. But if you climb up to the 7th floor and look out the hallway window, there's this view out over the city. Pretty amazing.
