Seb and his friends have taken up golf this summer -- they've been out a dozen times, at various courses, mostly playing 9 holes. A few of his friends have played for years, but most of them are just learning, so they play a lot of scrambles to keep things fun and moving. They've played Redtail, Wildwood, Claremont, Colwood, both early morning and after dinner tee-times. It's been fun to hear about their adventures and watch Seb try something new --

Princess Diva Sparkles
We are looking after Campbell's hamster while their family is on vacation. Liesl is in love with Princess. Jasper just wants to sniff her and play with her (not allowed). She's pretty cute for a small rodent, but it is disconcerting to watch her try and escape her cage every night. (She stands on top of her pink wheel and pushes at the top of the cage... and then the wheel spins and she falls off, but then she keeps trying!)

Crossfire tournament
Liesl's soccer team traveled up to Bellevue last weekend to play in the Crossfire tournament -- four games in three days. Liesl played various positions in the games, which was fun to see -- some defense, both center back and right back -- but then both defensive midfield and the attacking midfield. The team won their first three games easily, and then won the championship match 1-0.
Liesl and Avery had so much fun hanging out with their new teammates -- eating meals, watching other PCU teams compete, playing games in their free time, visiting the mall -- it was a great experience.

McNeil Point
On Tuesday, Anne, Brandi, and I hiked from the McGee Creek trailhead up to McNeil Point on Mt Hood -- a beautiful, bluebird day for a wonderful summer hike. The creeks were burbling, the wildflowers were blooming in abundance, the company was lovely. I've done this hike/part of this hike at least four times, and it's always a favorite. We made it to the old rock shelter this time, about 11 miles round trip.
